This thread is a place where you can share interesting weblinks that you come across.

I'll start it off with something frivolous which shows what not to do if you want a sustainable, recyclable future:

Here is a link to an organisation that I think has a really innovative approach to problems in the developing world, this page shows how podcasts are improving milk production in Zimbabwe:

In case anyone is wondering...this too was an April fools prank!

This looks like an interesting site http://classes.dma.ucla.edu/Fall06/10/
Whilst I was on holiday in Paris I went to a great design exhibition at the Centre Pompidou. The designer, Patrick Jouin showed not only a number of finished objects but also all the drawings and models made in their realisation. In a video in the exhibition he told the story of seven projects, what came across strongly was the relationship between the designer and the craftspeople, manufacturers and clients who brought the ideas to reality. The projects varied from the design of a lightshade which is made in one piece using stereolithography through to the design of new public toilets for the streets of Paris. You can see some of the designs and the conceptual work that went into them on his website. There is a musical accompaniment on the site which you may not like, if so I suggest you turn the sound down.

Love the NightCove and Bloom lamp!
There are some interesting concepts and its great seeing the conception drawings as well - although the website is a little frustrating to navigate.
Someone posted this link onto the T307 forum, it is a brilliant materials which bonds to many other materials and can be used to "hack" or adapt products. Current stocks are sold out, but when it is available I definitely want to try some!

Another interesting link that I came across recently, a set of cards to help designers to think about changing user behaviour through design. There are some really good ideas here which are well worth a look.

This is similar to a workshop that I attended on 'Envisioning Cards'. The cards were developed to help designers consider the long-term impact of their work on individuals, societies and the natural environment.

They are currently being tested by the University of Washington - you can get a set of the cards is you wish but you have to complete a licence agreement.

Ever felt like scribbling on your wall?

Well now you can!
Idea Paint (http://www.ideapaint.com/) - is a paint that you can paint on any flat surface to make them writable and wipeable using dry-erase markers. It’s available in the UK (Muraspec), but expensive (£116).
Here's a link to www.livingclimatechange.com

here's a snippet from their about page:
"Hosted by IDEO, a global design and innovation company, Living Climate Change aims to support conversations beyond policy and national sacrifice in order to point toward new possibilities. Moving the debate away from what we have to give up toward what we can create, this site is born from the conviction that design has a role to play in addressing the global issue of climate change. We aspire to support the conversation by asking good questions and exploring creative solutions in an optimistic and real-world way."
A really nice design for an all terrain wheelchair, this is a video but not possible to embed here.

What a great idea and surprised something like this has not been developed before.
